A 19-inch cabinet is only the start. The right shelves, power, cooling and cable management help prevent overheating, untidy installations, avoidable delays and safety risks before the first server or switch is installed.
That is where CPS Server Rack Accessories come in. We design them to fit the cabinets we build at our Midrand factory. In this guide, we walk through each accessory type and explain when you need it.
Buying cabinets from one supplier and accessories from another can create avoidable fit problems. Small differences in upright spacing, depth or fixing points may be enough to stop a shelf or fan unit from fitting correctly.
We avoid that problem at the source. Because we make the cabinets, we also make our accessories to match them. On top of that, every cabinet buyer gets access to related spares, and we keep ample stock.
For distributors and resellers, this means fewer returns. It also means fewer calls from installers on site.
Not every device has rack ears. For example, routers, small firewalls, NVRs and desktop PCs often need a shelf. First, choose a fixed shelf for light equipment that rarely moves. Next, match the shelf depth to the cabinet depth for deeper items. Finally, check the load rating before you place a heavy UPS on a shelf.

Heat build-up can shorten equipment life and cause avoidable cabinet failures. Fan units help remove warm air and keep active equipment within its operating range. We offer drop-in fans for our free-standing cabinets, fan units for wall mount cabinets, and IP55 fan units for outdoor sites, including 48V versions for telecom power systems.
As a rule, add a fan unit whenever you install active equipment. That includes switches, servers and UPS units.
Empty rack spaces let hot air flow back to the front of the cabinet. Blank panels close those gaps and improve cooling. Vent panels, on the other hand, let air through where you need it.
So, fit a blank panel in every unused U space. It costs little and makes a real difference.
Uprights are the vertical rails that carry your equipment. Sometimes a project needs an extra pair. Other times, you need a pair at a new depth.
For this reason, we sell cabinet uprights per pair for floor standing cabinets. We also sell wall mount uprights per pair.
A plinth lifts the cabinet 150 mm off the floor. This keeps equipment clear of standing water. It also makes cleaning easier and leaves space for cables from below.
Plinths suit plant rooms, basements and any site at risk of flooding.
A power distribution unit (PDU) feeds organised power to every device in the cabinet. As a result, you avoid risky daisy-chained multiplugs.
In addition, our PDU range now includes 10 and 16-way USB-C charging hubs. These suit tablet and device charging.
Patch panels bring cable runs into the cabinet in neat, labelled rows. We supply Cat5e and Cat6 patch panels in 24 and 48 port versions.
For fibre, our Atlas Fibre Management Systems cover trays, bends and hanger kits. And for worn or damaged parts, our spare parts section has you covered.
Our floor standing cabinets run from 12U to 47U. Depths range from 600 mm to 1200 mm, with perforated or glass doors.
