How Cold Aisle Containment Works
Enclosure: Cold aisle containment involves enclosing the cold aisle with panels and doors to prevent hot and cold air from mixing.
Airflow: Cold air is delivered through a raised floor or other means into the cold aisle, where it’s drawn into the servers.
Exhaust: The hot air is then exhausted from the back of the server racks, typically into a hot aisle or a space near a warm air return.
Benefits of Cold Aisle Containment
Improved Cooling Efficiency: By containing the cold air, the cooling system can focus on cooling the servers, reducing energy consumption and costs.
Preventing Hot Spots: Containment helps to maintain a more consistent temperature throughout the data center.
Easier Retrofitting: Cold aisles can be relatively easy and cost-effective in improving the cooling performance of existing data centers.
